Robert Whitcher

Robert Whitcher is an Information Security and IT professional with over 32 years experience in the IT industry and more than 22 years experience in Information Security, Privacy and business continuity.

He has experience at a senior management level for, and practical experience of, information security and business continuity. He also has extensive experience in consultancy, and in the development, implementation, auditing, investigation and training of both technical and non-technical aspects of information security and business continuity.

As a confident presenter, Robert has spoken at many prestigious conferences on Information Security, Privacy, Business Continuity and IT Service Management.

Robert is currently the Product Manager for ISO/IEC 20000 (IT Service Management), ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security) and BS 25999 (Business Continuity) for BSI in the Americas. He previously held the position of the Global Product Manager for the three standards at BSI Management Systems. Robert was also a member of both BS 25999 commitees responsible for the development of the standards (part 1 and part 2). He was also responsible for the development of the BS 25999 global training courses.
Before joining BSI Robert was employed by BT Syntegra as an Information Security Consultant working for BT Syntegra (British Telecom) performing the role of the Information Security Manager for Europe’s largest outsource project.
Prior to working for BT Syntegra, Robert worked as a senior security consultant within IBM Global Services, he also assisted with numerous investigations throughout Europe and the United States of America.

Robert previously held the position of Chief Information Security Manager for IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa.
